1988年，國立臺灣美術館正式成立（以下簡稱國美館），專注於臺灣美術整體發展的使命下，致力推動扎根性的美術教育。作為臺灣中部地區的重要據點之一，國美館一直不斷探索，尤其為兒童及家庭觀眾提供豐富多樣化的學習資源與服務。2005年，國美館設立「兒童遊戲室」，做為全國首座針對兒童所設計的藝術學習體驗空間，透過具遊戲性的互動方式，引導大、小觀眾認識館藏作品和展覽，創造特有的美術館經驗並延伸美感體驗，長期深根兒童藝術教育的啟發與刺激。
隨著國內外兒童藝術教育與文化參與日益受到重視，國美館的教育服務軟硬體設備環境亟需提升。因此，於2018年啟動「國美躍昇─邁向國際級美術館建構計畫」，期待整合各型態教育學習空間的功能及定位，提升整體性的環境與服務。
經過多年努力和籌劃下，2022年9月18日，國立臺灣美術館「臺灣兒童藝術基地」以全新的面貌和大、小觀眾們見面，期待這裡成為兒童和陪伴者共同探索、學習和創造的場域，努力為未來的兒童藝術教育帶來更廣闊的發展空間。
The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (hereinafter referred to as the NTMoFA) was established in 1988 to advocate comprehensive development of fine art and deepen art education in Taiwan. As a pivotal art hub in central Taiwan, the NTMoFA has continued to expand its efforts, particularly in providing diverse learning resources and services for children and their families. In 2005, the museum launched the Children’s Playroom, the first experiential art space in Taiwan for young audiences. Through playful, interactive approaches, it introduces visitors of all ages to the museum’s collections and exhibitions, cultivates distinctive art-museum experiences, and fosters long-term engagement with children’s art education.
As children’s art education and cultural participation have gained increasing attention both locally and internationally, the NTMoFA recognized the need to enhance its educational facilities and services. In 2018, the museum initiated the“NTMoFA Advancement: Toward an Global Art Museum” project to integrate its educational and learning spaces and strengthen their functions, while improving its overall environment and quality of service.
After years of planning and devotion, on September 18, 2022, the NTMoFA’s “Taiwan Children’s Art Cave” was unveiled to the public with a whole new look. The museum envisions the space as a place where children and their caregivers can explore, learn, and create together, opening up broader possibilities for the future of children’s art education.
呼應聯合國《兒童權利公約》及我國《兒童權利公約施行法》，臺灣兒童藝術基地以開創兒童與成人平等夥伴關係為核心，主張兒童與成人都能對世界有所想像、讓世界變得更好，也都能積極參與文化生活、自由參加藝術活動。
面臨當下的劇變及未知的未來，臺灣兒童藝術基地以未來教育為操作準則，鼓勵兒童各種「跨」界與「越」線、擁有探索既有以外的素養，期待兒童作為獨立的個體，都能擁有自信、同理、熱情的品格。
為落實上述核心理念與準則，從發想、產製、完成、實踐，致力於最大化、最深化兒童參與範疇，鼓勵兒童主導自身學習，並作為發想者、倡議者、協作者、建議者、共創者。
In response to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and Taiwan’s Convention on the Rights of the Child Implementation Act, the Taiwan Children’s Art Cave focuses on an equal partnership between children and adults. It advocates for the right of both children and adults to imagine and improve the world, actively participate in cultural life, and freely engage in artistic activities.
In times of drastic changes and uncertainty, the Taiwan Children’s Art Cave adopts “future learning” as its guiding principle. It encourages children to cross boundaries and venture beyond the familiar. Each child is regarded as an independent individual, and they are expected to cultivate confidence, empathy, and a sense of purpose for themselves.
To put these objectives and principles into practice, from conceptualization through production and implementation, the museum aims to maximize children’s participation. We encourage children to take the lead in their own learning and to take on roles as originators, advocates, collaborators, advisers, and co-creators.
本區作為兒童藝術教育展的主要展示空間，以4-12歲兒童為目標觀眾，配合認知學習階段規劃教育展示內容。兒童可於陪伴者（成人）的引導下參觀並藉由美術館現場的各項實物資源共同完成自導式學習，能遵循自身意願瞭解、參與藝術創作計畫，結合自身經驗完成詮釋與學習。
教育內容以臺灣美術史脈絡典藏作品中擷取美感教育元素，策辦過程中嘗試深化未來世代參與範疇，鼓勵賦權予兒童延伸詮釋與創作，形塑兒童在文化參與中的主體意識和創造力。透過教育展示傳達藝術家生命經驗與創作理念、藝術語彙、作品材質技法和美感體驗等，創造與觀眾對話的平臺，鼓勵觀眾感受與親近藝術，了解藝術也能作為認識世界、表達觀點的一種方法。
Targeting children aged 4-12, this area displays educational content that aligns with their stages of cognitive development. Children are encouraged to participate in art creation initiatives under (adult) guidance and make use of the various on-site resources to support self-directed learning. This allows them to follow their own intentions, interpretation, and learning based on personal experience.
As for educational content, we draw aesthetic elements from collections that reflect Taiwan’s artistic past. Throughout the curatorial process, we aim to deepen the scope of participation for our future generation, encouraging and empowering children to extend their interpretations and creations of art. This helps to shape their subjectivity and creativity in cultural participation. Our educational displays convey artists’ life experiences and creative concepts, as well as artistic language, mediums, and techniques, and even aesthetic experiences, thus creating a platform for dialogue with the audience. We not only encourage visitors to feel and get close to art, but also want to illustrate that art is a powerful method for understanding the world and expressing one’s point of view.
本區目標觀眾為0-10歲兒童與成人，可以為家庭關係、教學關係、代間關係，以主題情境發展、遊戲體驗概念、遊戲靈感來源、操作挑戰度及應用館藏等面向，區分為好奇洞、故事洞、創造洞、變形洞及穿越洞5大體驗區，教育內容奠基於臺灣藝術史、美術教育理念、藝術創作原則，透過多元視角觀點、提供各種遊戲行為的體驗，打破兒童對藝術的既定認知，擁抱不同的可能性，鼓勵兒童用各種方式「找靈感」。
The area’s target audience comprises children aged 0–10 and their accompanying adults, addressing familial, instructional, and intergenerational relationships. It is divided into five major experience zones: Cave of Curiosity, Cave of Stories, Cave of Creativity, Cave of Change, and Cave of Time Travel. These zones are categorized by thematic scenario development, conceptual play experience, sources of play inspiration, operational challenge level, and application of museum collections. The educational content is grounded in Taiwanese art history, principles of art education, and artistic creation principles. By offering various perspectives and experiences of diverse plays, we aim to break down children’s established notions of art and encourage them to embrace different possibilities, while “discovering inspiration” in countless ways.
