The Sculpture and Calligraphy Steles Park
Opened to the public in 1988, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) is located in the West District of Taichung City and takes up an area of approximately 10 hectares. The museum’s exhibition area includes its basement floor, 1st to 3rd floors, and its Outdoor Sculpture Park. The museum’s park is a large playground with expansive greenery that attracts many people to come for leisurely strolls, and it is where many sculptures displayed out in the open air can be appreciated, with new discoveries made on art’s wondrous beauty. Different from the museum’s interior space, the park is open around the clock, and people can feel free here and enjoy a relaxing art walk.
Displayed throughout the Outdoor Sculpture Park are 48 sculptures, and we invite everyone to come and explore different paths in the park to closely appreciate these marvelous works of art.
Furthermore, located near the entrance by Yingcai Road is the Calligraphy Stele Square, where calligraphy works by great Taiwanese masters from the past to present are collected and shown. A total of 50 steles are presented, with the notable features of the original calligraphy works showcased with the artistry of modern sandblast engraving.
Behind each artwork on view at the museum’s park is a story and a message that the artist wishes to convey. They correspond gloriously with the surrounding greenery, and the place has also become a popular leisure destination for nearby residents.
